Return of the Daily

Since I’m able to be at my office a good half hour before work actually starts, I can return to updating all of you daily in regards to what I’m up to!

I was reading through my Facebook page the other day moderating comments and such when I realized I had told a friend that Three Abandoned Kingdoms was hopefully going to be published this year! Oops! That clearly didn’t happen.

There’s been so much going on that I haven’t been able to devote as much time as I would like to working on my book. It makes me a little sad that I can’t do the things I want, but that’s life. It’s about compromise. Now that my husband has been in school for almost an entire semester things can hopefully calm down. It just feels like we’ve been running so much without a clear foundation. He started school, our eldest started school, I started a new day job; all at the same time.

Things are finally starting to relax, though. I’m more or less settled into my work and my eldest is settled into school. It takes him a bit of time to adjust to new things. He doesn’t like change very much.

It’s fun to  look at my kids and imagine what kind of people they’re going to grow up into. My eldest currently has enough attitude to make a teenage girl cry. “No” and “Never” are usually the responses he gives when asked to do anything. He knows we have buttons and he likes to push them. But if you give him a job to do, he’s super excited. He looks so much like his dad it’s crazy. He has my nose, though, so that’s a plus. Oh, and either my father-in-law or my dad’s eyes.  Both kids have my bags under their eyes. Poor kids hahaha. We look like we never sleep!

The youngest has started talking. Both kids were late talkers but I don’t really care. My eldest had some speech issues and we think we’ve overcome those now. The youngest just throws out words but he is trying hard every day! I think he has more patience than his brother hahaha. He looks very much like me, I think. My nose, my eyes, my hair colour (at least when I was younger). I remember when I went to my dad’s wedding;  he was so surprised to see how dark my hair had gotten since he had seen me last! I wonder if that will happen to my youngest.

They’re both my monsters, and that’s okay. This week my husband only works one evening so we can all spend a bit of time as a family together again. I bought those classic Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer animatronic movies from the ’60’s a few years ago. We watched Santa Claus is Coming to Town yesterday. My eldest likes these classic movies. I’m clearly alright with it.

The next thing I need to work on for my book is actually writing it! I’ve managed to map out how I’m going to end it, which is awesome. Usually I rush my endings because I just want my stories to be done. Other than actually writing the damn thing, I need to think of the cover art. My husband did the cover for Black & Red but the concept was much easier than what I’m thinking for Three Abandoned Kingdoms. I am going to need someone with actual skills this time!

Since it looks like I have no idea when I’ll actually get it done I’m not going to worry about it right now. I have the concept in my mind and that’s the important part.

Remember, it’s Monday! Have a wonderful week!
