Social Media Wins

If you’ve ever gone through a rough break-up you know that sometimes the hardest part is the aftermath. With the age of social media it’s hard to ‘unfriend’ or delete people from your past.

Facebook made a great tool to help  with that. You can read the Huffington Post article here.

I’d like to point out something this article doesn’t: this tool is great for those who have been victims in their relationships. Social Media makes it easier for men and women to hold unjust powers over their partners. Those who have been psychologically and emotionally abused in their relationships will undoubtedly go through a different process after a break-up than those who don’t.

Not only do they need to worry about finally being free of the person who hurt them so much, they also need to be sure that that person can never find them again. Sometimes blocking a person just isn’t enough. Sometimes you CAN’T block them. You may have escaped the situation but  there are outside factors. Being able to untag yourself from joint pictures is also great. Unless they are your photos you may not be able to remove them, but you will be able to limit where your identity is being shared.

While blocking is still the best way to go, this is at least a good step in the right direction.
