And Miles to Go Before I Sleep

Today is going to feel like the longest day of my life.

I have work, which starts at 8:30am but I’ve been up since 6:30am. I sit in my office from 8:00am until 8:30am writing on this site, reading manga, or generally doing whatever I want since I get here so early. Sometimes I do work-related things, but since I’m not technically on the clock, I don’t worry too much about it.

Today at 12:00pm I have a lunch meeting. I am the Co-Chair of the Advocacy and Events Committee with the organization I volunteer through. There is an agenda to discuss and decisions to be made. My Co-Chair for this committee will be taking a leave of absence while she organizes her school commitments. I will need help and I hope that everything does not fall to me. I can’t handle that. I don’t have the time or the energy to do it all. Perhaps today at the meeting we can determine who would like to fill her shoes while she is gone.

After this meeting, I have regular work for the rest of the day. At some point I need to write a report for the Board of Directors in regards to what the committee is up to. We’ve only met one other time and depending on what we accomplish today, there may not be much to report. Nailing down who is on the committee is very important for me. I don’t want to keep sending out e-mails to everyone on the board to see who is coming all the time.

After work, my husband will pick me up and we shall race home with the kids. I will then grab my boxing bag and get back in the car for my Executive Board Meeting. I’m the Secretary, so I need to be there. This meeting generally talks about the reports, talks about what is going to be discussed that the upcoming Board meeting on the following Tuesday. It can range in length from 1.5 to 2 hours. It will start as soon as everyone gets there. I feel like I will be the last one there, but there isn’t much I can do about that. I will also need to eat my sandwich during this meeting.

Once this meeting is done, it will be time for kickboxing. Kickboxing starts at 7:00opm and goes until 8:00pm. After I am done sweating it out, I will get back into my car, and head home for the first time since 7:45am this morning. Will I have time to shower? Maybe. Sometimes I do, sometimes I’m just so tired I go to bed and shower in the morning. I don’t get overly sweaty, but I’m sure it’s not good skin care to go to bed like that. The children will be in bed so aside from that brief moment; that brief car ride home I will not see them again today.

And then, finally, I will sleep.

The Small Victories

Phew. Had kickboxing today  seriously kicked my own ass but I love it. It’s my main source of exercise (aside from chasing kids) and it’s a great way to maintain self-care.

Today is towel day for laundry and I had two baskets of clean clothes I didn’t fold yet.

Here are my victories:
The littlest is in bed – only one kid to chase
Apparently my eldest LOVES folding pants and his own underwear. I get in trouble now if I try to fold them.
Someone showed my kid that “What Does the Fox Say” video. He loves it! The victory here is he dances like a crazy person (totally didn’t get that from me….>.>)
I have a coffee date on the 2nd!
After today my Christmas shopping will be 99% done! HA! EAT THAT! You know you’re jealous ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’m enjoying my victories today! I’m not thinking that tomorrow is a work day. If I ignore it that means it won’t happen, right? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Glutton for Punishment

So I’m not going to harass you about the contest I entered *(but you can vote here if you want:ย &ย :P)*

I took a break from book stuff and did something for me yesterday.

I attended my first kickboxing class in ten years.

I learned some things about myself during my one hour class:

  1. I got old. When I say ten years, I mean actually ten years. I was 22 the last time I participated in kickboxing.
  2. My stamina has fallen miserably low.
  3. I still look good kicking the crap out of stuff.

I’m going to make this a twice a week venture so that I am not as horribly sore (like I am right now) after doing the class.

With my husband going back to school in September and wanting to work, I’ll also need to review what nights I do it on. Right now Sunday and Thursday are my days of choice. I hope to keep teaching on Monday and Wednesday. That leaves Tuesday and Thursday to kick stuff. If my husband gets a job where he works on Thursday nights we’ll either need to hire a babysitter (ugh. Spending money NO) or I’ll have to switch up my class. It’s actually really affordable too. The start up cost is about $50 when you consider wraps, gloves and the payment for the first class. Afterwards, it’s about $38 a month for twice a week. So I’m pretty stoked for that. I’ll have to cut out Starbucks and only get some when I get gift cards and such. I haven’t had a Starbucks in a month or two anyway so I’m well on my way.

If I decide not to volunteer (and it’s looking that way) I can focus the rest of my free time onย TAK and get that sucker up and running.

Until then, I’m going to try not to wince every time I need to move the mouse…….
