Hold On When You Get Love

the-north-large

Picture from http://www.youarestars.com/discography/

There’s been a lot of talk of love
But that don’t amount to nothing
You can evoke the stars above
But that doesn’t make it something

And the only way to last
And the only way to live it
Is to hold on when you get love,
And let go when you give it… give it.

It’s a pretty melody
It might help you through the night time
But it doesn’t make it easy
To leave the party at the right time

If I’m frightened, if I’m high
It’s my weakness please forgive it
At least I hold on when I get love,
And I let go when I give it… give it… give it.

What do I do when I get lonely?
What do I do?
Hold on when you get love,
What do I do when I get lonely?
What do I do?
Hold on when you get love.
What do I do when I get lonely?
What do I do?
And you let go when you give it.
What do I do?

The world won’t listen to this song
And the radio won’t play it
But if you like it sing along
Sing ’cause you don’t know how to say it

Take the weakest thing in you
And then beat the bastards with it
And always hold on when you get love,
So you can let go when you give it.

Take the weakest thing in you
And then beat the bastards with it
And always hold on when you get love,
So you can let go when you give it… give it… give it.

What do I do when I get lonely?
What do I do?
Hold on when you get love
What do I do when I get lonely?
What do I do?
And you let go when you give it
What do I do when I get lonely?
What do I do?
Hold on when you get love
What do I do?

I know it’s true, please don’t think I do
Nothing that you say or do will make you love me
Forget the song, things will go on
I keep seeing you from the dark with you above me

I know it’s true, please don’t think I do
Nothing that you say or do will make you love me
Forget the song, things will go on
I keep seeing you from the dark with you above me

Take the weakest thing in you
And then beat the bastards with it
And always hold on when you get love,
So you can let go when you give it.
Give it… give it… give it… give it… give it… give it.

Be The Young

When-Youre-Through-Thinking-Say-Yes

Photo from http://yellowcardrock.com/music

I made these wishes with you

Went coast to coast
And we both felt so alive
We traded safe for something
We just had to be
And we almost lost our minds

But we’re still here searching

This is loud
This is cold
This is endless
And I know
Growing up has just begun
But there’s a place we can find
Where this pain is useless
And we’ll forever be the young

Summer came and flew by
Twice as fast
It was close enough to feel
And after all this waiting
For skies to fall
I need this to be real

Please let it be real

This is loud
This is cold
This is endless
And I know
Growing up has just begun
But there’s a place we can find
Where this pain is useless
And we’ll forever be the young

Where I was broken, I have healed
I learned to fight, I learned to feel
And I can’t believe my eyes
You are still here next to me
All I need, you’re all I see
In this life we hoped to find

This is loud
This is cold
This is endless
And I know
Growing up has just begun
But there’s a place we can find
Where this pain is useless
And we’ll forever be the young

The DownFall

The revolution came and went

It rang out like a gong.

The kings of Brynan razed the land

And took our queens and kings along.

Through the dark and dusty years

Our pride fell farther down.

‘Til rebels came and burned it bright

And brought it back around.

The North, South, East and West

Cried out and loud while severed.

Yet the East is dark and empty

A legend for forever.

The kings of Brynan razed the land

And took our queens and kings along.

Abandoned as we ever were

We sing this sad, sad song.

-The Downfall – A song of Brynan’s reign

The March

The land

The land

It all belongs to us

We take

We take

You cannot stop it

Marching

Marching

Through the lands we take from you

Calling

Calling

None shall rescue you

The children cry

Their sorrowful tears

The mothers cry

Their pitiful tears

The fathers cry

Their  silent tears

The land

The land

Shall never be the same

The March of Byrnan Soldiers

The Joys of Early Work

It’s not even 8 am and I’ve been in my office for about 10 minutes already. The Day Job doesn’t technically start until 8:15 am but I am physically incapable of rolling in at 8:00 am or 8:10 am like my colleagues. Some of them don’t come in until 8:30 am citing ‘traffic’ as being the cause.

Every. Day.

But, when I come in, I know I’ve missed the bulk of traffic, I can take my time getting ready for the work day. Locating my tools for my trade, setting up my computer and making sure everything operational. Checking my voicemails.

AND. I can crank my music.

This morning has been a Billy Joel kind of day. Not sure why, but it is. Right now it’s “Uptown Girl” and right before that it was “For the Longest Time”. Not sure what else I have on my phone since I don’t often manage the music tunes on there. I might throw Bill Withers “Can We Pretend” next because it makes me happy.

I can sing and dance out loud to my hearts content and not give a damn about who might hear me.

It helps me transition from Family life to Work life and I like it.

LONG LIVE GETTING TO WORK EARLY!

Tattoos! I've got 'em! Do you?

As some of you may or may not know I have six tattoos.

One on the inside of each wrist, one behind my left ear, one on each shoulder and one in the middle of my back at the base of my neck.

I love getting inked. And pierced. I have 10 piercings as well. Eight in my ears, one in my nose and one in my navel.

Here are pictures of my fabulous tattoos in chronological order of when I got them:

I got her when I was 18. She'll most likely get covered up next.

I got this one on my left wrist

Music

I love music

Dragon

Badass dragon! This puppy took 3 hours to do, including the colouring.

Libra

It looks a bit dirty as I had just taken the bandages off.

Because I get so excited about getting inked I’m already thinking of the next tattoo I want which will probably cover up my fairy.

I really loved her at the time I got her done and she represents a past passion (I used to write about and collect fairy figures) which I don’t do any more.

The next tattoo I want will be for my children. I’m due to birth the Hatchling in November so I want to save for this next tattoo and research tattoo studios so I can have it done for Mother’s Day next year. It’s going to be cool.

It will be two koi fish representing my sons in that circling image, kind of like this:

Not these colours though

Not these colours though

The fish on the left is going to have those pink/red sakura blossoms probably on the outside of it as my first son was born in Spring. The right fish is going to have red Japanese Maple leaves on the outside of it as my next baby is going to be born in Fall. The fish themselves will be coloured to represent the gender of my children as per the flags that are put up in Japan on Children’s/Flag Day. Dad’s are black fish, Mum’s are the red and orange, Boys are blue and white and girls are pink and white. So the fish for my kids will follow that.

This tattoo is going to go over my fairy. Which is okay because it’s the next chapter in my life 🙂

Bad Morning = Bad Mood

Had a bad morning. My dog refuses to cooperate and almost ripped my arm off.

I’m not kidding. She’s a mini Australian Shepherd, so she’s small, but trust me when I tell you she can be vicious. Aside from snarling, growling, and attempting to bite me, she refused to get in  her crate and apparently the landlords are coming for their “annual inspection” of the property.

The “annual inspection” piece is bullshit. We’ve lived there for 3 years and they’ve never done this before. So, I hope my dog pees on them. She’s normally a very docile, overly fearful dog and she loves people so I know she won’t bite anyone. But she gets soooooo excited when she sees people she sometimes pees. I hope she pees on the people coming to the house. It didn’t say on the notice to lock her up, so they can go to hell if they have a problem.

I am really pissed off about the whole situation and it’s ruined my day.

DO NOT PISS ME OFF. ESPECIALLY WHEN I’M PREGNANT AND HORMONAL.

Pissing me off is just a no-no in general. Right now it’s a BIG no-no because I’m losing my grip on my patience. Especially with a stupid dog. My kid is a different story. I am quite used to his antics so I don’t get as angry. Plus it’s his birthday on Friday so I’m giving him some leeway here.

That’s it for the rant! I’ll listen to this song until my ears bleed and it will make me happy because it’s hilarious:

Working on a Sunday

Breakfast has been consumed, tea has been devoured.

My version of ‘writing music’ is currently blasting through iTunes and I’ll all locked up in my room with my laptop and tablet.

Let the mass editing begin!!!!! If I can do a lot before the afternoon that would be great. It’s supposed to be 25 degrees today!!! YAY!

The Sound of Silence

Anyone who knows me knows that I dislike silence.

That isn’t to say that I can’t be unplugged from something for more than five minutes without going crazy.

There are different kinds of ‘silence’ that I am comfortable in. I dislike being in a room, building, or vehicle without music, that is true.

However, if I am in a room, with the window open, in the country, I am so happy it’s ridiculous. The sounds I hear when I live in the country calm me down. I hate the sounds of traffic and screaming and general noise that I get when I’m in the city. I think the happiest I ever was with ‘silence’ was when I lived in a log cabin in the middle of the forest between the ages of 8-12. I’m not kidding. It was a small place called Walsingham in Ontario. I THINK it’s on the map now. When I lived there we had dirt roads, a few stop signs and a gas station. It was wonderful. After that we moved to a house in the middle of a field in another smaller country place like Walsingham. That was also nice in terms of ‘silence’.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that I’m not bat-shit crazy and I CAN handle being without my music if I’m in the right place. I’m sure others are like this too 🙂 What’s your favourite ‘Sound of Silence’?

Tavern Music

If you live in Canada, you need to know this song. This a song I listen to when I’m writing tavern scenes. In Black & Red there is only really one scene in a tavern, but in the piece I was working on before I decided to publish, let’s call it Untitled 1, there are quite a few scenes.

To me, this is the kind of music you hear in a tavern in a fantasy world: you’ve got the thumping, the fiddle/violin, and just a bunch of fun.

Maybe it’s the part of me that’s from WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY out East in Canada where the room of congregation is the kitchen and everyone has a rip-roarin’ good time, but it’s songs like this that help me create that world all over again 🙂
